Tactical Operatives of the Zamfara police command in collaboration with FIB/STS from Force Headquarters, Abuja, led by DSP Hussaini Gimba, have arrested a 30-year-old woman identified as Fatima Lawali with 991 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition, she was arrested in Gusau.

The woman, Fatima Lawali, was arrested on Thursday, October 25 at around 9.30 p.m. with 991 rounds of AK-47 live Ammunitions. This was stated by the Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Ayuba N. Elkana, while parading the suspect in Gusau on Friday.

The suspect according to Elkana is an indigene of Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

According to Zamfara police, Fatima was transporting the ammo from Dabagi Village in Sokoto State to be handed over to one Ado Alero, a notorious bandit leader who has terrorized Zamfara and neighboring states.


The Zamfara police commissioner, while parading the suspect, also told news men that Fatima was known for supplying weaponry and ammunition to bandits in the states of Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Kaduna, Katsina, and Niger.
Following the interrogation of the woman and other criminals arrested, the police chief stated that the Zamfara Police Tactical Operatives conducted tactical operations at various bandit strongholds around the state.
The activities resulted in a heavy gun battle with the bandits, with an unknown number of outlaws killed and others escaping with gunshot wounds.
