A man identified as Daniyan Ojo has been given the death penalty by the Ondo State High Court for killing his wife Dorcas Daniyan by setting her ablaze.
The 50-year-old offender, a welder, was found guilty of perpetrating the crime after allegedly locking his wife inside a room while she slept and set their house on fire.
According to reports, he was said to have committed the offence on September 14, 2019, at lrese Road in Shagari Village, Akure, the state capital.

He was arrested by the state police command and later arraigned before the court.
The matter was argued in the court by both prosecuting and defence counsels for three years before the court finally gave its judgment.
Justice Adegboyega Adebusoye, who delivered the ruling, declared that the prosecution had established Ojo’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt and condemned him to death by hanging.
