The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on Tuesday morning that the Russian military had lost 12,000 troops in its war against Ukraine.

The purported milestone of loses comes after Ukraine’s intelligence directorate (GUR) claimed that a Russian major general, Vitaly Gerasimov, was killed in battle near Kharkiv on Monday.

303 tanks, 1,036 armored fighting vehicles, 120 artillery pieces, 50 multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS), 27 anti-aircraft systems, 48 warplanes, 80 helicopters, 474 other ground vehicles, 3 ships, 60 fuel tankers, and 7 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were also declared lost by Russia in the war against Ukraine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Tuesday, in response to rising outcry from Russian families, that “There will be no more call-ups of reservists from the reserve, and conscripts will not participate in war against Ukraine. Only professional military troops are capable of completing the duties at hand,” TASS reported.
On Tuesday, the Ukrainian foreign ministry stated that two oil stores in Zhytomyr and Chernyakhiv had been destroyed by a Russian attack.
On Tuesday, the separatist Luhansk People’s Republic militia claimed responsibility for the deaths of 278 Ukrainian combatants, as well as the destruction of 16 tanks, 50 armored fighting vehicles, 15 other ground vehicles, and 11 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
