Nigerian Army troops dislodge IPOB/ESN criminals in Anambra

The Nigerian Army says its troops have again successfully dislodged an hideout used by IPOB/ESN criminals in Orsumoghu, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The director, Army public relations officer, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

Nwachukwu said that troops of the 82 Division Nigerian Army conducting clearance operations along the Anambra/Imo States border communities dislodged IPOB/ESN criminals’ hideout from where the renowned organizations have launched attacks on defenseless civilians and security targets on a regular basis.

He revealed that troops encountered fierce resistance from hardened criminals as they drew in on their enclave during clearance operations along the border villages.

However, he said the criminals were forced to flee their shelter after being overrun by the superior firepower of the army.

After taking control of their camp, the brave soldiers continued their exploitation and discovered a cache of weapons, including 22 Pump Action rifles, 19 Dane guns, and 6 machetes.

Assorted mobile phones, simcards, a monitor, a fully functional Hilux car, charms and a laptop were also among the items recovered from the IPOB/ESN criminals.

The hideout functioned as the operational base of one Innocent Obieke (aka Double Lion), who is alleged to be the head of the vigilante group in the area but secretly organizes the criminal actions of IPOB/ESN in the area, according to investigations.

The suspect is currently on the run, and military are stepping up their efforts to apprehend him and his accomplices.
