Earlier today, the Nigerian Army announced in a statement that its troops from the 34 Brigade of the has successfully raided an IPOB/ESN training facility and a shrine belonging to the dissident group.
The Director Army Public Relation, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, revealed this in a statement saying two wanted IPOB/ESN criminals were neutralized during the operation.

Nwachukwu revealed that, on Friday, May 20, 2022, troops from the Nigerian Army’s 34 Brigade and operatives from the Department of State Service dislodged a training camp of the proscribed Indigeneous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), at Okporo in Imo State’s Orlu Local Government Area.

According to him, troops dislodged the training camp after exchanging fire with the dissidents, neutralizing two notorious members of the group, who have been on the wanted list of security agencies and have been terrorising residents in the general area of Orlu, Orsu and Njaba.

The troops also demolished the separatists’ training camp and other facilities, including a shrine that members of the illegal group are said to utilize for spiritual fortification.
Additionally, a local weapon-making factory was allegedly found and demolished.

A local factory for fabricating weapons was also discovered and destroyed.
A search of the factory uncovered , three dane guns, one locally fabricated pistol, one live round of 7.62mm, one live cartridge, two used shells of 7.62mm (special) and objects suspected to be charms, among other dangerous weapons.
