Loretta and Abdul, two cleaners and workers on the attacked Abuja-Kaduna train, have reportedly died, and their bodies have been deposited at St. Gerald’s Catholic Hospital in Kaduna.
Some security officers and passengers have also been confirmed dead, according to SaharaReporters, but their names are yet to be disclosed.

“In the meantime, two bodies have been deposited at St. Gerald’s Catholic Hospital in Kaduna,” a source told SaharaReporters, “while several people are being treated for bullet injuries.”

Some of the trapped passengers were reportedly kidnapped by the terrorists who stormed the train on Monday evening.

“Some people have died, and the bandits have taken numerous persons,” a woman on the train claimed, according to the aforementioned source.

“The army hasn’t been able to secure the area,” a source claimed, “but people are running towards them in a staging area.”
Another traveler, Anas Danmusa, wrote on Facebook, “Please this is an emergency. We are currently seated inside the train. The railway engines were destroyed after kidnappers set explosives. We are powerless to do anything. Gunshots are still being fired around us on the Abuja-Kaduna train. While waiting for rescue, we are hiding under the chairs, praying to God. We’ve been here since 8 p.m., between Katari and Rijana; I’m a living witness.”
“We’re safe now,” he added afterwards.
On Monday evening, suspected militants exploded a bomb on the railtrack of an Abuja-Kaduna train, according to reports from Vanguard News.
