Revolution can violently change the course of history. They erupt with ferocious momentum, toppling everything in their path and leaving instability in their wake. Often the dramatic scenes are burned into our memories and history books: common people or groups attacking government buildings, displays of raw emotion, and the chilling, instant judgment of their former masters. Whether it was the American or French revolution, these turning points happened after a prolonged increase of grievances, government failings, and corruption that slowly brought the pot to a roiling boil before it overflowed.

The recent attacks on politicians, security agents and government infrastructures in Nigerian could turn out to be one of these history-changing revolutions.

Yesterday, the Nigerian media space was agog with the terrible news of the violent and deadly ambush attack on Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s convoy that reportedly left at least 8 people dead including the security details of the Nigerian Senator.
