There was massive jubilation in Fuka and Daza villages in Munya local government area of Niger state on Sunday, May 15, after joint security operatives repelled an attack by bandits on the villages.
Multiple sources revealed that residents of the town praised the security operatives for the gallantry displayed in repelling the attack.
In a press release, Niger State Police public relations officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, revealed that an attempted bandit attacks were successfully repelled by a joint security team in Munya, Shiroro and Paikoro local government areas.

Abiodun revealed that, On the 15th of May 2022, around 0700 hours, information was obtained that suspected armed bandits had been spotted in Zazagha and Injita villages Munya local government area.

Based on the intel, Joint security tactical teams were dispatched to the affected region almost immediately, and they discovered that the bandits had split up into several groups, with some moving to Fuka and Daza villages of Munya local government area.

The tactical forces advanced to these regions where the terrorists were adequately engaged in a fierce gun duel and were able to repel them.
The armed bandits later extended to Gwalo village, K/koro area of Paikoro, LGA, where the joint team responded quickly, recovering rusted cattle from the bandits.
Reinforcements were sent to Mutun-Daya village, via Gwada, Shiroro LGA upon the receipt of information that another group of bandits were sighted in the area.
The armed bandits were equally engaged in a gunfight, with some being neutralized and others fleeing into the forest with gunshot wounds.
Normalcy was restored when the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Monday Bala Kuryas, fsi led an additional tactical reinforcement team from Minna to Sarkin-Pawa, Munya LGA.
