Zion Brown, the mother of a Chicago train robbery suspect, dragged him to the police station after seeing his picture on a wanted poster.
Brown, an 18-year-old Loyola University Chicago sophomore, has been charged with armed robbery after reportedly snatching $100 in cash from a Metra train conductor at gunpoint, according to the New York Post.
After seeing photographs of a masked suspect peering into a station surveillance camera provided by police and broadcast by the media, the suspect’s mother took him to the Calumet City police station to turn himself in.

Brown’s counsel contended that his client was hungry and looking for something to eat during his bail hearing, and this detail was revealed. In determining his bond, his counsel begged the judge to recall her own days as a starving college student.
However, Cook County Judge Maryam Ahmad Ahmad dismissed the defense attorney’s argument, saying that as a starving college student, she would never consider robbing someone, and granted the state’s request for no bail.
Metra Police initially sought public assistance in identifying the man seen in two security photographs at the downtown Chicago Van Buren Street Station.
The pictured offender, who was a passenger on the train, “presented a black semi-automatic weapon and announced a robbery as the train pulled into the station around 2:17 p.m.,” police said.
He then allegedly stole the conductor’s money and ran into the station on foot. On one of the photographs, the masked suspect is seen on the platform with a weapon.
In the backdrop, a conductor can be seen still keeping his hands up.
Brown allegedly said during an interview with police that the weapon he used during the heist was a BB gun, which he claimed to have thrown into a dumpster in an alley afterward.
According to reports, Brown, the robbery suspect had never been convicted of a crime before.
Brown’s next appearance in court is set for March 4th.
