The Kano State Police Command claimed it eliminated three kidnappers and freed two kidnapped victims in Katsinawa village of Tudun Wada Local Government Area of the state.
SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, claimed they also recovered one locally-made AK-47 rifle with six live rounds from the kidnappers, adding that during the operation, an irate mob set one of the kidnappers on fire.

He said they received a complaint on Saturday at 0130 hours that gunmen stormed Elisha Aminu’s home in Katsinawa Village, Tudun Wada LGA, kidnapped his two daughters, Zainab Elisha, 18, and Nafisa Elisha, 16, and escaped into Falgore Fores.

“Upon receiving the report, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi, Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, raised and instructed a team of Operation Puff Adder, led by SP Kabir Aminu, Divisional Police Officer, Tudun Wada Division, and operatives from the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad, led by SP Shehu Dahiru, to rescue the victims and apprehend the perpetrator
“With the support of a local vigilante organization known as “Yan Bula,” the teams sprung into action simultaneously.
“The forest was combed and the gunmen were cornered, as a result, a gun duel erupted for about 2 hours.
“Three of the kidnappers were shot, and the two captives were freed unharmed, with no rescue team casualties.”
“An AK-47 rifle made in the United States was recovered, along with six rounds of live ammunition. One of the kidnappers was also set on fire by an enraged mob.”
The kidnappers’ remains were transferred to the Tudun Wada General Hospital, where a medical doctor confirmed them dead, and the victims were reunited with their families, according to Kiyawa.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police cautioned that criminals in Kano will have nowhere to hide, asking them to repent or leave the state totally, “otherwise, they will be arrested and face the full wrath of the law.”
