The Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has reportedly killed 2 unknown gunmen.
They armed men were killed on June 26, 2022, at about 11:39 p.m., while the officers were on patrol along Obosi Nkpor Road beside the town hall.
On the said day, police officers reportedly came upon a group of armed men in a white Toyota Hiace bus, a red Toyota Corolla, and a motorcycle.
The Operatives engaged the armed men in a gunfight, killed two of the criminals, and recovered a red Toyota Corolla with registration number AKD 303 DW, a pump action handgun, and a locally made pistol.

As a result of the superior firepower of the police, the other hoodlums were forced to flee the scene with the Toyota Hiace bus and a motorcycle.
In the meantime, Police have strengthened operational placement and increased patrols in the area to better respond to distress calls especially aimed at arresting other fleeing members of the gang.
In a related development, while on another routine patrol, the Operatives recovered a white Mercedes Benz 350 with registration number RSH 836 BE that they believe was abandoned by criminal elements on the central school road in Umusiomen Nkpor, Ogidi, at about 11 p.m. on June 26, 2022.
Additionally, on June 28, 2022, at about 4:30 p.m., police officers along Zik’s Avenue Awka freed two suspects from mob action. The suspects were identified as Okoye Stephen, 19 years old, and Chukwuemeka Nwudo, 27 years old.

The suspects were allegedly caught with a locally made pistol attempting to rob a young woman after she had withdrawn money from an ATM. Before authorities could save the suspects, the mob had already pummeled them until they were unconscious. The Operatives also recovered one locally made pistol and one live cartridge from the criminals.
