The Nigerian Police in Ogun State have reportedly arrested five accused cultists-turned-armed robbers along Molipa Road in Ijebu Ode after a gunfight with the hoodlums.
The suspects, who are purportedly terrorizing Ijebu-Ode and its environs, are said to have killed many people, including a police sergeant.

The accused, Segun Olabiyi aka Koleje, Musa Atanda aka Musa Sars, Olorunjuedalo Adewale, Olamide Odewole, and Peter Anuoluwapo Akinyemi, were detained at their hideout on Sunday, according to police spokesman Abimbola Oyeyemi.

The suspects were described as “dreaded” by Oyeyemi, who added that they had been on the wanted list of the police in Ogun for a long time.
He claimed that the Obalende divisional headquarters in Ijebu Ode received information that the cultists from the Aiye confraternity had convened in a hotel to plan an attack.
According to him, the DPO Obalende Division, SP Salami Murphy, assembled his troops and headed to the scene after receiving the indication.
“When the hoodlums saw the cops, they engaged them in a gun battle,” Oyeyemi claimed, “but they were overwhelmed by the cops’ superior firepower, which eventually led to the arrest of five of them while others fled with gunshot injuries.”
The suspects were found at the site with one locally made short pistol, two live cartridges, and several charms, according to him.
