Residents of Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, were terrified after a 26-year-old woman, Ugochukwu Nworie, was allegedly raped to death hotel room.
The event occurred on Monday at the Hope-in Hotel in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, according to PUNCH.
It was discovered that the victim arrived at the motel late Monday night with a group of young men.
However, she was discovered dead in the hotel room after the door was unlocked on Tuesday morning, with her legs, hands, and mouth tied up, according to sources.
On Thursday, the Ebonyi State Police Command confirmed the occurrence.

Mrs Loveth Odah, the state Police Public Relations Officer, said the Divisional Police Officer of the Kpirikpiri Police Division in the Abakaliki metropolis confirmed that the incident took place at the Hope-in Hotel in Abakaliki.
“The DPO reported that the incident was brought to light while a team of police officers were on a routine check on the hotel,” Odah said. A room not accounted for was discovered.
“So the DPO asked the receptionist, who informed him that the visitors in the room were strangers to him.
“Attempts to unlock the room remained futile until he sought a spare key, only to discover the lady’s lifeless body, naked with her legs, hands, and mouth tied to the room’s bed.”
The state Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Garba, has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident, according to the police spokesperson.
She added that efforts were underway to apprehend and convict the criminals as a deterrent to others.
“The lady was gang-raped, according to preliminary investigation, since more than 12 used condoms were recovered in the room.
“The investigation is still underway, and we will keep the media and the public updated as additional information emerge,” she added.
She stated that the body had been taken to a morgue.
