The officials of Rapid Response Squad (RRS), a tactical team of the Lagos Police Command, have arrested three notorious Awawa cult group members in Agege, Lagos.
The RRS in a statement on its Facebook page revealed that the three arrested cultists were part of the seven most feared members of the Awawa Cult and the masterminds behind some of the recent violence and atrocities in Agege.

According to the statement, Awawa cult group have on several occassions been fingered for being responsible for carrying out both night and daylight robberies in the Agege area of Lagos State.
Their arrest, according to the statement came two weeks after the Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) authorized the squad’s Decoy Team to gather intelligence on some of the people responsible for the rising crime and violence in Agege and make arrests.
The statement reads;
“In order to minimize the escalating crime and violence in Agege, officials from the Lagos Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested three notorious Awawa members, namely; Abubakar Mohammed (26), Nofiu Odusanya (19), and Idowu Daramola (22).”
“Abubakar Mohammed, also known as Yaba, was recently released from prison and is suspected of committing ‘okada’ robbery and has been in and out of police custody several times.”
“Nofiu Odusanya, a.k.a. Alhaji Horror, was arrested for his involvement in the grisly matcheting of one Babatunde, as well as robberies at night and dawn in Agege.”
“While Idowu Daramola aka Magnet is a well-known pickpocket, phone thief, and dusk and morning robber in the Agege area.”
Meanwhile, some community members have asked CSP Yinka Egbeyemi to help the community keep the three suspects away from the community in order to prevent crime in the area.
The three suspects have been sent to court to face charges.
