On Sunday morning, men and officers from the Kwara State Police Command arrested two alleged ritualists with fresh human heads and hands on the outskirts of Ilorin.
The suspects were intercepted on a motorcycle at Oke Oyi/Jebba road at around 11:30 a.m., according to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Okasanmi Ajayi.

The accused allegedly attempted to evade arrest when they saw police officers on stop and search duty, prompting the law enforcement officers to give them a vigorous chase that forced them to stop.
When they were searched, a bag containing a fresh human head and hands was discovered, according to Okasanmi.

During questioning, the alleged ritualists by name, Wasiu Omonose ‘Male’ aged 35 years, of Abioye compound, Share and, one Akanbi Ibrahim ‘Male’ aged 32 years of Sayo Street Share, revealed that they were taking the fresh human head and hands to an Alfa in Ilorin for ritual purposes.

Okasanmi said, “Eagle-eyed policemen assigned to Operation Harmony, while on patrol of Oke Oyi/Jebba road today 24/4/2022 at around 1130hrs, intercepted two men on a motorcycle in furtherance of Kwara State Police Command’s unrelenting commitment to rid Kwara State of crimes and all forms of criminality.”
“They attempted to elude the officers on stop and search duty, which piqued the operatives’ interest.
“As a result, the suspects were pursued and forced to stop.
“A bag containing a fresh human head and hands was discovered in their possession during the search,” he said.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police restated his determination to prosecute the suspected ritualists as soon as investigation into the matter is concluded.
