The Delta Police Command has announced the arrest of no fewer than 5 suspected armed robbers and drug dealers during a stop and search operation along the Benin-Sapele road in Sapele and a raid on criminal hideout at Azugwu street, Umuonicha quarters in Ogwuash-Uku, respectively, according to the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe.
In a statement issued in Delta, Bright Edafe said 2 suspects were arrested for armed robbery, while the remaining 3 were arrested for drug-related offenses.
For the drug offenders, Edafe said, the Command’s Crack Team raided a suspected criminal hideout at Azugwu street, Umuonicha quarters in Ogwuash-Uku on the 26th of April, 2022, at about 5:40 PM and arrested three suspects namely: Izuagbe Theophilus’m’ age 20 years, Okofu Henry’m’ age 22 years, and Confidence Ugochukwu ‘f’ age 19 years.

According to him, one hundred and forty-seven (147) wraps of dry weeds suspected to be loud, forty-seven (47) wraps of substances suspected to be cocaine, seven (7) wraps of Colorado, and forty-four (44) wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp were among the exhibits collected from them.
He further noted that the suspects are currently in police custody and investigation is still ongoing.

Similarly, Edafe said, on the same date, during a stop and search operation along the Benin-Sapele road in Sapele, operatives from the safer highway patrol intercepted a Toyota Camry car with the registration number APP 134 UP driven by one Osasere Megegbe’m’ age 45, and one Edosa Monday’m’ age 35, both of no 12 Emah Community road, Ekiadolor Benin City.

He revealed that one cut-to-size double barrel gun was found hidden inside the engine compartment of the car during the search.
He disclosed that the suspects were promptly arrested, the gun and vehicle recovered to the station.
He further noted that two other long single barrel weapons were also found concealed in the rear seat of the car after further investigation and interrogation.
All the arrested suspects are being held in jail and will be charged in court once the investigation is completed, he said.
