The Ogun State Police Command have arrested two suspects for stealing a motorcycle, often known as a ‘okada,’ and killing the rider.
Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, revealed this in a statement issued on Sunday in Abeokuta, the state capital.

“The suspects, Hammed Ismail and Osoba Yakubu, were apprehended following a report lodged at the Sango Divisional Headquarters on the 15th of March 2022, by one Buhari Saliu, who reported that his 25-year-old son, Yusuf Buhari, who had left home with his okada the day before, was found dead in an uncompleted building at Araromi Village via Ilogbo town and his okada was nowhere to be found.”

“In response to the report, SP Saleh Dahiru, DPO Sango Ota Division, dispatched his detectives to the area, where the corpse was evacuated and handed over to the family, who insisted on burying him according to their religious beliefs.”
The DPO and his team, according to Oyeyemi, launched a technical and intelligence-based inquiry to solve the enigma surrounding Yusuf’s death.
He explained that Ismail was apprehended as a result of an investigation done in collaboration with community vigilante officials and the So Safe corps.
The victim’s motorcycle was found in Ismail’s possession, according to the police spokesman in the state, and his detention led to the arrest of his accomplice, Yakubu, who was also taken into custody.
“They have confessed to the crime and are cooperating with the police investigation,” he continued.
The Commissioner of Police in Ogun, Lanre Bankole, reacted by ordering the suspects to be immediately transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.
