Ogun Police arrested the couple after a co-tenant of the accused alerted the authorities about the unpleasant odour emanating from the room of the suspects.
According to the Ogun Police, Kehinde Oladimeji, 43, and his wife Adejumoke Raji, 35, are currently in police custody for being in possession of fresh human parts.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said this in a statement made in Abeokuta.

According to Oyeyemi, the couple, who live at 72, MKO Abiola Way, Leme, Abeokuta, were apprehended after one chief Moshood Ogunwolu, the Baale of Leme Community, filed a report at Kemta Divisional Headquarters.
The Baale, according to Oyeyemi, said that one Pastor Adisa Olarewaju, a co-tenant with the accused, alerted him of unpleasant odors coming from the suspects’ apartment.

“When the DPO Kemta Division, CSP Adeniyi Adekunle, received the complaint, he swiftly took his investigators to the scene and began a search.”
“A plastic bowl containing fresh human body parts was discovered in their room during a search, and the couple were arrested immediately.
“The suspects confessed they were herbalists and that the human parts, which included hands, breasts, and other body parts, were donated to them by one Michael, who they claimed lived in Abeokuta’s Adatan neighborhood.
All attempts to locate the aforementioned Michael were unsuccessful because the suspects were unable to locate his residence.
“It would be recalled that a dismembered body of an unknown individual was discovered in a swamp region in the Leme area of Abeokuta about a week ago,” he added. “It is not yet obvious if the parts are those of the recovered body or not.”
Meanwhile, CP Lanre Bankole, the commissioner of police, has ordered that the suspects be immediately transferred to the state criminal investigation and Intelligence Department’s Homicide Section for a discreet inquiry.
To serve as a deterrence to others, the CP promised that anyone directly or indirectly implicated in the crime will be prosecuted.
