One Musa Dawa, a Nigerian soldier, recently announced his voluntary departure from the military in order to join the presidential campaign of Peter Obi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections.
Dawa announced his resignation on his Twitter account, @Dawa419, saying it would give him time to campaign for Obi, his chosen candidate, which the Nigerian Army had previously authorized.

“I wish to tell you my voluntary retirement has been approved by the @HQNigerianArmy which has paved room for me to vigorously campaign for Peter Obi as my preferred candidate of choice come 2023 in sha Allah; we will rescue this country.
“Thank you, my good friend, I did it for my kid’s future. A better public educational system is what I desire for them.
“Going back to the jungle where I will continue to blow Peter Obi’s trumpet to the birds whilst defending our territorial sovereignty for him to see where to govern. Peter Obi made my pass a memorable one and give me Hope to defend his ground,” Dawa tweeted.

The Nigerian Army on the other hand have not said anything about the soldier in question.
