Nigerian Police Arrest Armed Robbers, Rescue Kidnapped Victims And Recover Two Stolen Vehicles.
This was revealed in a statement by the police public relations officer, Edo State Police Command, SP Kontongs Bello.
Bello said; the Edo State Police Command acted on credible information that a Toyota corolla car with REG. NO. 456 BS belonging to a staff of PEOPLE WORLDWIDE PRAYER MINISTRIES, Illeh Ekpoma had been snatched by hoodlums suspected to be armed robbers on the 15th of December, 2021 at about 0015 hours.
A highlander jeep with REG. NO. KWL 979 BH, owned by Ehikioya John ‘M’ of Ihumudumu quarters Ekpoma, was also snatched at gunpoint on the same date at around 0000 hours.

On receiving the information, DPO Ekpoma division CSP Bukoye Oyegbemi swung into action, mobilizing a team of police operatives and giving them a hot chase, as well as informing neighboring DPO’s with the goal of blocking all exit roads from Ekpoma and allowing the vehicle to be recovered and the hoodlums to be apprehended.
The DPO’s quick response resulted in the recovery of two vehicles that were attempting to flee Ekpoma. Also, the arrest of the following suspects were made; Akhere Akhigbe (22), Anthony Joseph (22), and Oshowe Zakari (36).
The suspects have confessed to the crimes and are still being investigated in the hopes of apprehending more gang members.
RESCUE OF FIVE (5) KIDNAP VICTIMS
Similarly, on the 15th of December, 2021, around 1500 hours, operatives of the Edo State Police Command’s Ewohimi Division, while on patrol along the Ubiaja-Ewohimi Road led by the DPO CSP Gideon Azuonwu, came across hoodlums suspected to be kidnappers who had intercepted a Sienna bus with Reg. No. RBC 407 ZN driven by one Oliseh Francis.
When the hoodlums saw the police operatives, they engaged them in a gunfight.
However, the police operatives’ superior firepower forced the hoodlums to abandon five of the victims, including the driver, unharmed, while fleeing into the bush with three passengers. The search for the three passengers and the hoodlums is still going on in the jungle.
While appreciating the people for providing timely information that led to the arrest of the criminals and the recovery of the stolen vehicles, the commissioner of police, CP Philip Aliyu Ogbadu Psc(+), reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding the safety of all indigenes and residents of the state.
