Nigerian Joint Security Forces Bust IPOB ESN Camps In Anambra And Enugu States (Photos)

The Nigerian joint security forces comprising of the Army, DSS, Navy and Police personnel has stormed suspected criminal hideouts in Anambra and Enugu States, reportedly used by gunmen who are alleged to be members of the Eastern Security Network.

This was confirmed In a statement released by the Director Army Public Relation, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu.

Nwachukwu said the joint security team consisting of troops of 302 Regiment of the Nigerian Army, operatives of the Nigerian Navy, Department of State Services and Nigeria Police Force dislodged camps belonging to Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN) at Idara Nnebo, Ihe Mbosi villages and Ukpor in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

He said the clearance operation was carried out in the early hours of Saturday 25 June 2022.

According to him, the security forces cleared IPOB fire positions and Improvised Explosive Devices to dislodge the criminals from their hideouts.

Items recovered during the operation include; two pump action rifles, one locally made gun, three magazines with five rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition, two AK-47 rifles, three magazines and three power generators.

Similar to this, Nwachukwu said members of the Nigerian Army troops of 103 Battalion carried out a raid on the IPOB/ESN camp at Nkwere Inyi Forest in Enugu State’s Oji River Local Government.

During the encounter, the criminals were forced to flee in disarray, and troops found a Toyota Highlander SUV and a Lexus that were thought to have been stolen by the criminals.

Two motorcycles, a double barrel gun, and seven live rounds are among the additional items recovered.

Nwachukwu also urged the general people to continue providing the military with reliable information about the criminal elements’ activities in the area.
