Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, the Nigerian Chief of Army Staff (COAS) expressed satisfaction with the tenacity and determination shown by troops of the Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery (NACA) and the Nigerian Army Training Centre (NATRAC) in their efforts to combat banditry and other security threats in Kontagora and Niger State in general.
The COAS stated this yesterday, December 12, 2021, while speaking to troops from the two formations during his first operational visit to Nagwamatse Barracks in Kontagora, Niger State.

In a statement released by Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director army public relations, the Nigerian chief of army staff urged the troops to be steadfast and committed in carrying out their operational duties, noting that his visit was motivated by the necessity for an on-the-spot assessment of the situation in the area.

He praised the troops’ positive attitude and urged them to keep up the current operational pace by building on the gains made thus far. He informed them that he placed a high value on the wellbeing of officers, troops, and their families, and that he will not hesitate to address their needs and concerns as soon as possible.

In separate briefings to the COAS, Major General Taritimiye Gagariga, Commander Corps of Artillery, and Major General Oluyinka Soyele, Commander Nigerian Army Training Centre, underlined that, thanks to the soldiers’ relentless efforts, socio-economic activities in Kontagora had been restored.

The COAS presented a brand new Toyota Hilux truck to the Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) of Headquarters, Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery, after inspecting newly acquired combat equipment as part of his pledge to boost troop morale and motivate Senior Non-commissioned officers in order to restore regimentation in the Nigerian Army.
