Mkpurummiri: Ebubeagu Arrest 12 Suspected Drug Peddlers, Recover Weapons

The Ebonyi State Command of the Ebubeagu Security forces have reportedly arrested twelve members of a criminal gang that purportedly specializes in the selling of strong drugs such as Methamphetamine, popularly known as Mkpurummiri.

Chief Stanley Emegha, the State Security Consultant, who paraded the suspects at the command office in Abakaliki, said the security outfit raided the syndicate’s hideout on a tip-off and apprehended 12 of them, while others escaped.

The suspects were also found with two live cartridges and other items during the operation.

Following the successful operation, he urged members of the public to provide the security agency with beneficial information that will lead to the arrest of the syndicate’s remaining members, stating that security is everyone’s business in light of the rise in criminal activities perpetrated by hoodlums.

“I’ve always stressed that security is everyone’s business,” he remarked. We got hints yesterday about a group that specializes in these heavy substances, the Mkpurummiri being the most recent.”

Apart from hard drugs and other substances, live ammunition and other firearms were also recovered from the accused, according to Chief Emegha.

“When we learned of their operations, I quickly contacted Ebubeagu personnel, who laid siege on their hideout, and fortunately, we were able to apprehend them with all of these items.”
