A man identified as Benedict Anieze has reportedly killed his daughter by smashing the 1-month-Old baby’s skull on the floor at his home in Pipeline area of Idimu, Lagos State.
According to Punch Metro, Benedict was at home with his family on Sunday, April 3, when he suddenly grabbed his baby girl and smashed her head against the ground.
The 1-month-old baby’s skull was reportedly broken, and she died on the spot.

Benedict, however, is said to have set the apartment on fire and fled the scene in an attempt to hide the crime.
It was revealed that Promise, the suspect’s wife, was also in the house during the whole catastrophic episode. She was said to have dashed out of the house to alert their neighbors of the fire and her 1-month-old baby girl’s death.

According to the PUNCH, the neighbors put out the fire and discovered the baby’s lifeless body on the floor of the apartment.
The mother of the victim, who was claimed to be distraught, bemoaned the circumstances surrounding her child’s death.
While denouncing Benedict’s actions, a source stated that his wife was a juvenile.
“The baby’s mother was nervous because of what happened; she was at home with her husband when he suddenly carried the baby and smashed her on the ground,” the source added.
“After what he did, he even set the home on fire.” He wanted to hide the crime, but when his neighbors noticed the fire, they promptly interfered and extinguished it. The baby’s mother is only 17 years old.”
Neighbors were alleged to have been enraged by the occurrence and advised the devastated mother to report it to the nearest police station.
Others organized a search team to look for the culprit, while some accompanied her to the station.
The PUNCH reportedly obtained a photo of the 1-month-old baby girl’s lifeless body.
A bloodstain was discovered near the baby’s shattered skull.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the state police public relations officer, confirmed the occurrence.
According to him, the suspect was tracked down by the police and neighbors to a site in the vicinity, where he was caught.
The matter had been handed to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, for additional investigation, according to the PPRO.
“There was no disagreement between him and his wife,” Hundeyin claimed. When he smashed the 1-month-old baby’s skull on the ground, he said he was possessed by demonic spirits. He also set fire to the house and fled.
“The wife screamed, and they took her to the station after putting out the fire.” He was tracked down by the police and his neighbors to the location where he was apprehended.
“The baby’s body has been taken to the morgue at the Yaba General Hospital.”
