The Ogun State Police announced that a man who allegedly macheted his father to death in the Onipanu region of Ogun State has been arrested.
Ibrahim Sikiru, a 27-year-old suspect, is accused of killing his father with a machete last Friday for allegedly disturbing his sleep.
‘The suspect was arrested following a report submitted at Onipanu Divisional Headquarters by one Abiodun Sunday, a deceased’s neighbor,’ according to Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi.

According to Abiodun Sunday, the dead, Mumuni Ibrahim, a night security guard, returned home to find his son still sleeping, and when he questioned him about why he was still sleeping at that hour, the suspect became enraged and pulled out a cutlass, macheted the victim in five separate places.

‘When the DPO Onipanu Division, CSP Bamidele Job, received the information, he instantly mobilized his men and hurried to the location, where the suspect was apprehended and the victim was transported to the General Hospital for treatment.
‘When the suspect, who is strongly suspected of being a cultist, was interrogated, he had no rational explanation for his actions.
‘On March 31st, the victim passed away while undergoing treatment at a general hospital, and his family insisted on burying him according to his religion’s demand.’
According to the announcement, Commissioner of Police CP Lanre Bankole has ordered the suspect’s immediate transfer to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department’s homicide division for further investigation and rigorous prosecution.
