History has an uncanny ability to recycle itself. For example, a parallel is being drawn between the plight of the beleaguered Rashidi Oko Ilu in the cultism saga and that of Razaq Mutiu popularly called Small Mutiu.
Oko Ilu, like Mutiu, has been charged with murder, attempted murder, conspiracy, assault, engaging in a secret cult and others which were contrary to the Laws of Osun State.
Small Mutiu is a notorious cultist who killed people at will within Osogbo and its environs. Till this day, the name, Small Mutiu still strike fear in the mind of some Osogbo residents, even after his arrest and prosecution.
During his time, he was the most notorious cultist in Osogbo.
He was active in Osun State, Osogbo to be precise, and in Kwara state, whenever school was in session at Federal Polytechnic, Offa. Osogbo Town was his main base of operations.

Until his arrest in 2016, Small Mutiu was the personification of fear. He instilled fear and sorrow in everyone he came into contact with.
The Osun State Police Command arrested him over series of murders around August/November 2016.
Small Mutiu, was arrested after allegedly killing three people in Osogbo.
The Police in the state, while parading him told journalists that Mutiu killed a 40-year-old man, Adesina Akinwale at Oke-Oniti area and also killed 21-year-old Adekunle Badmus at Government Technical College Area in Osogbo on 15th of August, 2016.
The police added that Mutiu also killed another 25-year-old man, Kehinde Adesina at Abaku Area in Osogbo.
The Police also said that During this period, a 23-year-old man, Aderemi Adepoju was attacked by Mutiu at Ayetoro area in Osogbo. Luckily the last victim survived the attack.
In a chat with Small Mutiu, he told reporters that he killed those individuals mentioned by the Police because they were members of Eiye Confraternity that killed members of his own gang, Axe confraternity.

His words, “We are just on 4-4 now. They dropped (killed) four on our side and we dropped four from their side. It was a battle between my gang, Axe and the Eiye guys. The battle started from our school, Federal Polytechnic, Offa in Kwara State. We were actually fighting over women.”
Two years after his arrest, precisely on the 31st of January, 2018, the Osun State High Court, in Osogbo sentenced Mutiu to death by hanging for killing one Kehinde Adesina.
The prosecuting counsel from the Osun State Ministry of Justice, Barrister Wuraola Ogunfolabi informed the court that the convict, who is a member of a secret cult, committed the crime on the 18th of November, 2015 at about 8:00 pm at Abaku Area of Osogbo, alongside some of his gang members by attacking some people in the area.
According to her, Mutiu fired a gunshot at one Kehinde Adesina and Wale Makinde, which resulted in Kehinde’s death while Makinde had one of his fingers severed with an axe.
