Kenya’s Directorate of Criminal investigation (DCI) officers have announced the arrest of two suspects for the gruesome murder of one Joel Juma, a Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) student who was killed two days ago.
According to a press release by DCI, undercover operatives apprehended Joseph Muchiri, alias Agent, 22, and Paul Mbatha, 20, yesterday morning after a manhunt was initiated following the death of a 4th year Industrial Chemistry student.
Their arrest came after a thorough forensic examination of the scene by Crime Scene experts from the DCI National Forensic Laboratory, which led the detectives to the suspects’ identities.

The first suspect was said to have been arrested in Kiandutu, Thika town, while the second was arrested in Gachororo, Juja area, while attempting to escape DCI dragnet that had been extended to Murang’a County.
Kenya’s DCI also said crime fighters are closing in on the third suspect, and the search for him, dead or alive, is well underway.
Joel Juma, who was nearing the end of his undergraduate studies, was assassinated by three guys while he and his fiancée were on their way to a friend’s house to look for revision materials.
Special teams of detectives from the Crime Research & Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) were immediately despatched to augment the Juja-based investigators in a manhunt for the bloodthirsty killers Involved in the 2am incident that engulfed the JKUAT fraternity and its environs in a somber mood.
The criminals, who are part of a group fleeing an ongoing operation in the broader Eastlands area, thought they’d discovered a safe haven in Gachororo, but that’s no longer the case. A concerted operation is currently underway to engage them tooth and nail, said thè Kenyan security agency.
According to the statement, Muchiri alias ‘Agent’ and Mbatha have since confessed to their roles in the murder.
