The Kano State Police Command in Kano on Friday said it’s officers intercepted a Golf III Saloon car carrying 135 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa.
According to a statement released by the command, the Ash coloured vehicle conveying the cannabis was intercepted while a team of Policemen from Rogo Division were on an intelligence-led surveillance patrol at Damagiri Village, Rogo LGA, Kano State, along Katsina – Kano Boarder.
The State PPRO, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said in a statement that the car, which was coming from Katsina was heading to Kano before it was intercepted.

Kiyawa said, “On sighting the presence of the Police, the driver of the Motor Vehicle zoomed off. On sustained follow-up, the driver abandoned the Motor Vehicle and escaped.
“On spot search, One Hundred and Thirty-Five (135) parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp valued at One Million Three Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N1,350,000:00) were recovered in the Vehicle,” he said.
He said an investigation conducted on the matter revealed that the driver deals in buying and selling Indian Hemp and he left his residence for an unknown destination.
He added that the Commissioner of Police directed that case had been transferred to the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department, Narcotics Section for discreet investigation.
