
According to a news report by Vanguard News, a woman passing by an uncompleted building in Marabar Kankara town, Malumfashi LGA, Katsina State, rescued a four-year-old girl who had been kidnapped and hidden inside the building.
She also assisted in the arrest of her kidnapper.
According to the police, the woman who knew that the four-year-old girl had been missing from home was passing by an uncompleted building in the vicinity when she observed the missing girl child with one Abubakakar Abdulbasir.
The suspect, Abubakakar Abdulbasir, is a 16-year-old JS 3 student at one of the local schools, according to Vanguard.
According to sources, when the woman questioned Abdulbasir about what he was doing with the little girl, he stated that they were just chatting, and he told her she could take the girl home with her if she wanted, which she gladly did.

After returning home with the girl and telling her parents about the encounter, the father promptly reported the incident to the Malumfashi Police Station, and Abdulbasir’s father was summoned for interrogation regarding his son’s whereabouts, who was at the time missing.
When Abdulbasir arrived home, his mother informed him that his father had been summoned by the police and was being questioned about his whereabouts. As a result, Abdulbasir decided to surrender and confessed to the crime.
“Yes, it is true that I kidnapped Halima, my cousin,” Abdulbasir Abubakakar, a 16-year-old JS 3 student, confessed.
“I hid her in an uncompleted building on the outskirts of town before calling her parents and demanding N70,000.
“I further told them that if they failed to provide the ransom, they would lose her.
“My conscience pricked me, and I immediately ended the call, knowing that the route I had chosen was perilous and against my religious beliefs.
“I apologise profusely for my actions. I’m pleading with you to forgive me.” “I’ve realized my mistakes,” he said.
“One Sanusi Abubakar of Marabar-Kankara village in Malumfashi LGA reported to the police that his 4-year-old daughter, Halimatu Sanusi, went missing and all efforts to trace her whereabouts proved abortive,” the state police public relations officer, Superintendent of Police, SP Isah Gambo, said while parading the suspect at the state police command.
“He later received a phone call informing him that his daughter had been kidnapped and that he was being told he could lose her unless he paid a ransom of N70,000.
“Following the report, the Police Anti-Kidnapping Unit sprang into action, conducting a thorough and painstaking investigation that resulted in the arrest of the mastermind, Abubakar Abdulbasir, ‘M’, of Marabar-Kankara village, aged 16 years.
“During the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to the crime.”
