Reports emanating from ZagazolaMakama, a counter insurgency expert and security analyst in the Lake Chad region has revealed that at least four members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), including their leader, were killed and several others injured during an ambush on Nigerian security forces in North East of Gubio local government area of Borno State.
Gubio is located about 80 kilometers north of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

According to reports, a military convoy was ambushed by suspected members of the Islamic State of the West African Province (ISWAP) along the Kulu’u Isaram river on Monday morning while on a fighting patrol between Gubio and Magumeri.
Zagazola said a source, who’s an Intelligence Officer, told him that the attackers opened fire at the vehicle conveying the CJTF Chairman, Who has been identified as Mandama, killing him and four other members of his team.
According to the source, several other soldiers also sustained bullet wounds during a cross fire with the militants while extricating themselves in the ambush.
“The deceased were evacuated to Gubio town to be buried later in the day,” he said.
