The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc(+), NPM, fdc, has taken time out to congratulate the famous Police Constable, Mary Yetunde Aina (aka Iron Abbey), on her victory in the international championship bout against Laura Pain of the United Kingdom.
Iron Abbey as she’s popularly called defeated Laura Pain on her home soil, to clinch the World Boxing Foundation (WBF) International Super Bantamweight title belt at City Coast Centre in Portslade.

Abbey, who works for the Lagos State Police Command, has made a name for herself in the boxing world, winning various prizes and recommendations as an amateur boxing referee.

She is a well-known boxing judge as well as a professional boxer with a perfect record and numerous amateur victories.

The IGP, who plans to greet the champion when she arrives in Nigeria, praised the cop for her bravery and contributions to the nation and the Nigeria Police Force.

In a same spirit, the IGP urged sports fans in the Force to be relentless in honing their abilities and fearless in breaking new ground in the field of sports.

Similarly, while praising the unprecedented achievements in the Nigeria Police Sports circle, the IGP charged officers of the Nigeria Police Force to develop and diversify their talents in order to advance modern policing strategies capable of strengthening the country’s internal security as required.
