Seven people were reportedly killed by unknown gunmen early Monday morning, less than 24 hours after the suspected killers of Anambra State lawmaker Hon Okechukwu Okoye threatened to kill more people. A police station and some vehicles were also reportedly set on fire.
Among those that were killed, according to sources, were a mother and four of her children at Isulo, Orumba North local government area of the state.

Another person was reportedly killed in the state’s Idemili North local government area, while another was killed in the Nanka Orumba North local government area.
According to another source, unknown gunmen also stormed a police station in Anaku, Ayamelum Local Government Area, and set vehicles on fire.
According to SaharaReporters, Okoye, who represented Aguata II State Constituency, was kidnapped in Aguata on May 15, 2022, along with his driver.
The legislator was later beheaded, and his head was found on Saturday in Nnobi, in the state’s Idemili South Council Area.
Last Monday, the district office of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company in Ogidi, a magistrate court and the headquarters of Idemili North Local Government Area were attacked.
Ikenga Tochukwu, the spokesman for the Anambra State Police Command, said information of the incidents were still unclear.
