The Adamawa State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists has called for justice for Nafeesah Vandi, a female journalist who is employed by the Adamawa State Broadcasting Commission in Yola.
The union condemned the alleged beating of Vandi by her husband, Ibrahim Aliyu, in a statement co-signed by its chairman, Donald Dedan, and secretary, Fidelis Jocktan.
Vandi was allegedly beaten by Aliyu, a former worker of the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria.

The NUJ called the attack evil and brutal and urged the police authorities who had detained the suspect to ensure a thorough investigation and conviction.
The organization declared that it would not support a husband assaulting a wife to the point of insanity, much less a professional woman.
“Though the police have already swung into action in investigating and arresting the perpetrator of the domestic violence, the NUJ calls for a more speedy action into the investigation and prosecution of Mallam Ibrahim Aliyu, in accordance with the law and constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“The union further calls on national and international organisations like FIDA, UNFPA, UNICEF as well as civil society organisations that are propagating a total halt on violence against women, to step into the matter for justice to prevail,” the statement added.
