An ex-convict, 22-year-old Rilwan Sodiq, has been re-arrested for armed robbery about three months after he was released from prison for committing a similar offence.
Officials from the Lagos Rapid Response Squad (RRS) apprehended an ex-convict for traffic robbery on Sunday afternoon.

Rilwan Sodiq, a 22-year-old ex-convict, was caught yesterday in Abiola Garden, Ojota, after stealing a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 phone from a lady driving a Sienna space bus in Ojota Bridge traffic.
Rilwan, who had a fractured left arm, was working with an accomplice named Sodiq when he took the lady’s phone from her.

Sodiq distracted the lady while he slipped his hand through the passenger’s side of the car to pick up the smart phone, according to him.
Alhaja revealed that her shouts drew the attention of RRS officers stationed on the other side of the road.
“A chase followed to get the phone from him.” She continued, and the officers, with the help of several good Samaritans, tracked him down at Abiola Garden. After denying he had stolen anything, the phone was found in his pant.”
According to Rilwan, he was freed from the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in December 2021. “I injured my arm in a traffic accident a month after the release.”
Rilwan admitted to robbing and disposing of three motorists’ phones in traffic using the same tactics.
