Drunk Driver Abandons Boss’ Car On The Road After Getting Drunk At Fela’s Shrine

On Monday, members of the Lagos Rapid Response Squad (RRS) recovered a 2014 Nissan Altima that had been abandoned at Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos since late Saturday night by a drunk driver.

According to a statement by the Lagos Rapid Response Squad, the driver, 43-year-old Samuel Lawal of Magodo Estate, left his boss’s vehicle at Allen Avenue after getting drunk at Fela’s Shrine on Saturday night.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Lawal after dropping his boss (name withheld) at his residence in Magodo Phase 1, he pulled out rather than park the vehicle at the boss’s residence, to party around Fela Shrine, Ikeja.

“All means to recover the vehicle proved futile. I had no alternative than to lie to my boss that I was robbed and that the vehicle had been driven away”.

The owner of the car indicated that although he hired Lawal about four months ago, he had never been dishonest or shady and that he had always been a hard working driver.

When the driver couldn’t be reached on Sunday, the surprised boss made the decision to alert RRS.

The vehicle was thereafter located at Allen Avenue, where it was recovered with all the side glasses wound down and a bottle of dry gin next to the driver’s seat.
