The Delta State Police Command has arrested four suspected cultists/armed robbers and a 57-year-old car snatcher.
The Delta state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, disclosed this on Tuesday in Asaba, the state capital.
He said, “on the 17th of April, 2022, the Command received intelligence that a group of suspected cultists/armed robbers were hibernating at the Eloke Hotel in Issele Azagba, with the hotel serving as their rendezvous point before carrying out their operations.

“Intelligence further revealed that the syndicate monitor to know if the police are closing in on them and that whenever they suspect anything, they throw their guns out the hotel window and flee.

In a well-planned operation, members of the State Anti-Cult Unit invaded their hideout and arrested four of the suspects, namely: Ogbuokwu Trust’m’, Augustine Solomon’m’, Edebatu Gideon’m’, and Kingsley Okolie’m’, all aged 20 years.
Two locally built cut-to-size firearms were found, together with four live cartridges.
In another development, the PPRO said, on 17/4/2022, the Command got a distress call from a caller (Name withheld) reporting that his Toyota Camry car, with registration number EFR 939 TK, had been hijacked at around 2000 hours on the same date in the Otu-Jeremi village of Ughelli South LGA.

The information was swiftly relayed through the Command’s control room to all DPOs and Patrol teams, who were instructed to be on the lookout in order to recover the car and apprehend the perpetrators.
As a result, on 18/4/2022 at around 0635 hours, an Anti-Crime Patrol from the Ogwashi-Uku Police Station intercepted the abovementioned Toyota Camry while on regular stop and search duty along the Kwale/Ogwashi-Uku expressway by the Olloh-Ogwashi Community.
When the occupant, who also happened to be the driver of the vehicle, saw the police, he got out of the car and ran. The team pursued the suspect and, after a high-speed chase, caught up with him and the suspect Mkohol Iligh ‘m’ age 57yrs was arrested.
The suspect claimed that a man named C.Y.’m’ from Warri gave him the car to deliver to someone in Asaba. The investigation is still ongoing, with the goal of apprehending all culprits.
