DCP Abba Kyari, who has been suspended by the Nigerian Police has been declared wanted in connection with a 25kg cocaine deal.
DCP Abba Kyari, the suspended Commander of Intelligence Response Team (IRT) in the Force Intelligence Bureau of the Nigerian Police Force, has been declared wanted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for his involvement in a 25-kilogram cocaine deal.

At a press conference held at the anti-narcotics agency’s national headquarters in Abuja on Monday, February 14, 2022, its Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, declared DCP Abba Kyari wanted.
The Agency stated that it made the decision after all attempts to persuade him to comply with formal interrogation invitations failed.
The Agency criticized the fact that people who are meant to be supporting existing efforts to combat illicit drug trafficking and abuse are themselves involved in the problem.

There is no better way to begin this press conference than to remind us of the magnitude of the drug problem Nigeria faces and the importance for all well-meaning Nigerians to take a positive part in combating the illicit drug epidemic, according to a portion of the text read at the briefing.
The statement further reads;
“Nigeria’s drug problem was approaching epidemic proportions even before the dismal findings of the 2018 National Drug Use and Health Survey.”
And, if anything, the NDLEA’s arrests and seizures over the last year show that the country’s drug problem was severely overestimated prior to President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision to strengthen the NDLEA and the subsequent launch of offensive action by the Agency to rid the society of the menace.
“Unfortunately, some law enforcement agents who should be partners in the pursuit of the President’s mandate are at the forefront of breaking the law, as they aid and abet drug trafficking in the country.
“In just 12 months, even the most cynical of Nigerians now agree that the country is truly in a drug quagmire, and thus appreciates the relentless efforts of NDLEA operatives.
“We are forced to declare one of these law enforcement personnel wanted today, and the person is no other than suspended DCP Abba Kyari, the former Commander of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) in the Nigerian Police Force’s Force Intelligence Bureau.
It should be recalled that DCP Abba Kyari was suspended on August 1, 2021, following Inspector General of Police Usman Baba’s recommendations about his alleged ties with fraudster Ramon Abbas, also known as Hushpuppi.
The suspension came after the Federal Bureau of Investigation of the United States of America indicted Kyari in a fraud case involving the Instagram sensation Hushpuppi.
Kyari was the officer-in-charge of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team until he was suspended by the commission.
