The Kaduna state police command have reportedly arrested a serving councillor for supplying arms to bandits.
According to a Channels TV news report, the councillor was arrested in Giwa Local Government Area, Kaduna State with an AK-47 rifle.

Police said, the suspect, Abdulrahman Adamu, a serving councillor in the Soba Local Government Area of Kaduna State, was arrested by operatives of Operation Puff Adder II attached to the Kaduna Police Command, during a routine patrol along Galadimawa Road.

According to press release by the Kaduna state police command’s spokesman, Mohammed Jalige, the police officers successfully intercepted the councillor, who was riding a black Lifan motorcycle with a sack heading towards Galadimawa community.
At that point, the police officers were suspicious about the suspect’s sack and were encouraged to inspect its contents. During this process, they discovered an AK-47 rifle concealed inside the sack, loaded with six rounds of 7.62 X 39mm live ammunition.
The suspect was there and then arrested and taken into custody alongside the exhibits, according to the police spokesman.
According to the police spokesman, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, Abdulrahman Adamu, is a serving member of the legislative council of Soba Local Government Area in Kaduna State, representing Kinkiba ward.
The suspect further admitted to receiving the gun from his associates and delivering it to bandits in the Galadimawa village area for their criminal activities.
