The Niger State Police Command, Thursday, paraded a suspected 24-year-old, car snatcher, Sylvanus Isyaku.
The suspect was apprehended with a dummy gun, when attempting to flee with a Toyota Matrix vehicle he snatched from a woman.

This was confirmed in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the state, DSP Wasiu Abiodun.

According to the statement, Police operatives attached to Paiko Division intercepted and arrested Sylvanus Ishaku, aged 24, who hails from Dikko area of Niger State with a Toyota Matrix vehicle with Reg No. MNA 492 TC, based on credible intelligence received.

The suspect was reported to have snatched the said vehicle at Brighter area of Minna from a female victim who was entering her compound at a gun point, and zoomed off through Suleja road.
When attempting to flee with the vehicle, he was apprehended near Ali Gabadna Junction, Paiko, Paikoro LGA.

During the search, a toy gun was discovered on the suspect, and preliminary inquiry suggested that the plastic pistol was used to take the vehicle.
During questioning, the suspected car snatcher confessed to the crime, claiming that he had moved from Dikko to Minna in December 2021 and purchased the toy gun at a Minna store.
He further admitted that he lives in an uncompleted building in the Shango region and that he roams the neighborhood looking for an ideal situation and target to strike.
He stated that he intended to sell the automobile in Abuja to raise funds for his personal purposes. The case is being investigated.
