Sule Matthew, a Kogi born BUK first class graduate and a former intern with a popular media company, was reportedly killed by unknown gunmen in Anambra state, along with some travelers.
The tragic occurrence involving Matthew, a 21-year-old who recently bagged a first-class degree, was revealed by his heartbroken family over the weekend.
Mathew earned his bachelor’s degree in Information and Media from Bayero University Kano (BUK).

He was allegedly killed along with other travellers at Ekwulobia in Aguata LGA in Anambra State.
Their bodies were deposited in the town’s General Hospital.
Mathew, his boss, and the rest of the group traveled in a private vehicle, according to Jemila, his sister.
Unknown gunmen ambushed them and opened fire on their vehicle, she claimed.

Only the driver dashed out when he saw them and ran straight into the bush.
“We sent Sule’s photos to the mortuary when we couldn’t reach him and learned of the tragedy.” We received word that he had been recognized as one of the victims.”
Mathew’s friend from Diploma days, Gambo Ibrahim, said, “He was on his way to Anambra from Abuja when the gunmen attacked.”
Salis Manager, a classmate who interned with Mathew, said he was preparing to attend the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation in the coming weeks.
According to the manager, Matthew’s father died months before final exams, yet he still managed to finish as their department’s Best graduating Student in August 2021.
He said; “He was on the Gidan Yanci Fellowship, a 6-month program that teaches and mentors young citizen activists to campaign for democratic reforms.”
Mathew was born in Ayangaba, Kogi State. According to reports, he co-founded Hostutors, a social enterprise that makes formal and vocational education more accessible.
