An 18-year-old boy, Abdulsamad Suleiman a resident of Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters, Gwale local government area of Kano State have been arrested by the police for killing a housewife with a wooden pestle.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), Mr. Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who confirmed the incident, said it occurred on the 12th of February, 2022.
Mr Kiyawa revealed in a statement that on the 12th of February, 2022, at around 8:30 PM, a resident of Danbare Quarters, Kumbotso LGA Kano State reported that when he returned home from work on the same day at around 8:00PM, he found his wife, Rukayya Jamilu, ‘f’, 21 years old, motionless in a pool of her blood.

He also reported that he met his children, (1) Anwar Jamilu, ‘m’, 3 years old, (2) Amina Jamilu, ‘f’, 1-year-old with grievous injuries.
According to the statement, after the case was reported, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi, Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, quickly raised and instructed a team of detectives led by SP Ibrahim Hamma, the Divisional Police Officer(DPO) of Dorayi Babba police station, to proceed to the scene.
The team arrived at the scene and rushed the woman and the injured children to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital in Kano, where the woman was evaluated and pronounced dead by a doctor, while the injured children were placed on admission.
Investigations conducted by the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department and DSS led to the arrest of the Principal suspect, identified as Abdulsamad Suleiman,’m’, 18 years old, of Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters, Gwale LGA Kano State, and his accomplice, Mu’azzam Lawan,’m’, 17 years old, of the same location.
Following a thorough investigation, the main suspect admitted that on February 12, 2022, at approximately 4:00 PM, he went to the house of the deceased as his relative and met her on the bed.
After he greeted her, he saw three (3) Mobile phones and took them. Having realized that, she recognized him, he used a wooden-made pestle and repeatedly hits her on her head and also hits her two children and left with the Mobile phones.
He further admitted that he gave one of the mobile phones to a friend and sold the other two for a total of N12, 000. (N12,000:00).
His friend who was arrested also confessed that he sold the deceased’s phone for two thousand naira (N2,000:00).
According to the police, after the investigation is concluded, the matter will be charged to court.
