Boko Haram Leader Allegedly Arrested In Ogun

There was fear and anxiety in some parts of Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Sunday, 31st July 2022, after a suspected Boko Haram leader was arrested in the area.

According to reports, the suspect Boko Haram Leader parades himself about as a security guard while gathering intelligence for the terrorists.

According to PUNCH, a private radio in Abeokuta broke the news on Sunday which created panic and anxiety among the residents of the State.

The suspected Boko Haram leader was reported to have been arrested on Saturday night by the personnels of the Department of State Security Service (DSS).

An audio of the newscast by the private radio went viral on social media platforms on Sunday, causing huge panic in the area, as the development has been linked to the alleged plans by terrorists to attack Nigerian South-Western States.

A source who spoke to The PUNCH correspondent on condition of anonymity, revealed that the suspect was arrested few days ago in the Ijaye area of Abeokuta, Ogun State.

According to the radio report, the suspected Boko Haram leader arrived in Abeokuta from Katsina State, took up a security job at Ijaye, while gathering informations ahead of their planned attacks. Following his suspicious attitude while working as a security guard, DSS gathered its intelligence, stormed his hideout and captured him.

The report said there are many terrorists spies in disguise gathering intelligence in the State, but the security operatives are still on top of their game, said that they will do everything possible to capture all the terrorists informants in the State.
