According to reports, a total number of 21 persons were feared dead in a bank robbery in Uromi Edo state.

Videos posted online shows that the armed robbers stormed commercial banks in Uromi, the headquarters of Edo State’s Esan North-East Local Government Area, on Thursday.

In the video, the commando-style bank robbers can be seen shooting sporadically and moving money bags from the robbed banks into the several operational vehicles parked outside the banks
21 people, including police officers, were said to have died as a result of the bank robbery in Uromi Edo state.
Eyewitnesses said bodies of the victims have been deposited at St Camillius Hospital’s Mortuary.
Kontongs Bello, a spokesman for the Edo State Police Command, acknowledged the robbery incidents but did not provide any further details, according to Within Nigeria News.
The commando-style bank robbers also allegedly took away unspecified large sums of money from the banks in question.

The attacks were “very coordinated in commando style, and armed robbers initiated the attacks simultaneously,” according to a source who requested anonymity. This is unheard of in this community.”

Zenith Bank, First Bank, Unity Bank, and the United Bank for Africa are among the banks hit by the alleged armed robbers’ actions, according to other sources in the town.

“The armed robbers’ random bullets generated alarm in the town. The robbers arrived well-prepared. Another account described the situation as “helter-skelter.”

Citizens were claimed to be in contact with security authorities to come to the banks’ and residents’ rescue.
Meanwhile, Kontongs Bello of the Edo State Police Command Public Relations Office confirmed the attacks when contacted.
