Seven people are said to have been killed by armed bandits in Faru, a community in Zamfara State’s Maradun Local Government Area.
This comes just two days after a horrific attack in another local government area of the state, which reportedly claimed the lives of at least 48 residents.
Sources in Faru described how bandits attacked the community on Sunday afternoon in an interview with Channels Television.
According to an eyewitness, the heavily armed bandits stormed the community shortly before 2 p.m. and began firing sporadic gunshots.
According to another resident, seven people were killed in the process, with several others suffering from gunshot wounds of various degrees.

However, Zamfara police have yet to respond to the most recent bandit attack in the state.
At the time of writing, attempts to contact Muhammed Shehu, the command’s spokesperson, for comment were unsuccessful.
Before Sunday’s attack, bandits allegedly killed at least 48 people in Sabon Gari Damri, Damri, and Kalahe communities – all in Bakura Local Government Area of the state.
The bandits attacked via Sabon Gari Damri village at 2pm on Friday, according to the Sole Administrator of Bakura Local Government, Aminu Suleiman, who confirmed the raid to Channels Television.
He said the attackers killed nine people before moving on to Damri, where they killed another four people, including a police officer and a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps employee (NSCDC).
According to Suleiman, the bandits set fire to a police Hilux vehicle in Damri before heading to Kalahe, a village between Sabon Gari Damri and Damri, where they slaughtered another eight people.
He also said that the bandits killed some patients who were receiving treatment when they attacked a healthcare facility in Damri, and were forced to retreat to Sabon Gari Damri where they killed dozens of persons again, following a gunfight with security operatives.
Suleiman confirmed that all-in-all, about 48 individuals were during the Friday attack.
