According to reports, Bandits kidnapped a number of students and other travelers in the early hours of Tuesday (Yesterday) along the notorious Birnin-Gwari highway in Kaduna State.
The bandits also set fire on eight vehicles transporting the student to their examination for admission into the School of Health at Makarfi, scheduled for Kaduna State University.
According to Sahara Repoters, one Idris Saidu, the Birnin Gwari Emirate Progressive Union’s (BEPU) Public Relations Officer, confirmed the occurrence in a statement.
According to the statement, the bandits besieged three different locations on the highway, forcing motorists to make a u-turn.
Those who were not lucky fell into the trap set by the bandits and were subsequently abducted.

He said, “on the 31st of May, terrorists intercepted a convoy of motorists with security escorts between Kuriga and Manini near Udawa and preyed on an unspecified number of people who were abducted and taken into the bush along the Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna highway.”
“In the last four days, terrorists have laid siege on motorists on the Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna highway, abducting as well as killing and wounding many innocent citizens,” the statement continued,
“yet our people have been reduced to silence with no reportage of the ugly situation nor any move by the authorities to show concern on the deteriorating security around the Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna highway.”
In today’s tragic occurrence, terrorists set fire to eight vehicles, and an unspecified number of defenseless women and children were kidnapped and taken into the bush for ransom.
“it is obvious that the unholy alliance of bandits and Ansaru (Boko Haram) has declared absolute war on our people, yet the political will of the government to uphold their oaths of office to protect the lives and property of our countrymen remains a mirage.”
“While politicians are working to gain power in 2023, none of the gladiators running for office have any plans to free our people from the shackles of terrorists and miscreants.
More so, none of these politicians deems it fit to visit Birnin-Gwari to either see delegates, but rather called delegates to Kaduna for consultations.
We had always appreciated efforts of security personnel to reducing the unstable insecurity that plagues the Birnin-Gwari area.
But, because our people have reached a point of no return, the people of Birnin-Gwari and communities along the Kaduna-Birnin-Gwari highway must halt travel on this notorious highway with immediate effect from tomorrow until the security situation improves.”
This organization urges all of our citizens to exercise extreme caution and abide by all laws of the land, as well as to seclude themselves in prayer for Allah’s intervention in dealing with terrorists and their collaborators within our communities.
We also pray for the safe return of our people, mostly women and children, who have been kidnapped.
“We are citizens of this country, not prodigal sons who have been abandoned to fend for themselves like “Sheep without a Shepherd.” “.. “Enough is Enough,” he concluded.
