Barely 2 days after the Kaduna Abuja train attack, Muawiyya Gambo Turaki, a customs officer, and nine people have allegedly been kidnapped by bandits in Kofar Gayan low-cost, Zaria, Kaduna state.
Bandits were said to have entered the area around 9.00 p.m. on Wednesday night.

This is the second time that bandits have invaded Kofar Gayan and kidnapped people according to Daily Trust.
Last year, gunmen raided the area and kidnapped another customs officer’s wife and a woman, but they were released after a N15 million ransom was paid.
The ward leader of the area, Muhammadu Nazifi, confirmed the latest Kaduna attack to Daily Trust.
He said; “those kidnapped include his son, Jamalu, Muawiyya Gambo Turaki, a customs officer, who arrived home from his duty post just yesterday and his son Khalifa.”

“They also kidnapped a woman, Jamila Usman, and another boy, Khalifah,” he continued.
“However, about four of them managed to escape and later returned.”
According to Yushau Isah, one of the escapees, about four of them managed to escape after walking with the bandits for about five kilometers into the forest.
“The abductors were eight in number and arrived on foot with sophisticated weaponry,” he said. They find it difficult to communicate with us in Hausa Language, although their primary language is Fulani.”
According to Isah, they were able to because ofnthe darkness of the night.
“We ascribed the kidnapping to the activities of informants because it appeared that their main target was the customs officer who had just returned home from his duty post a day before,” he said.
Security officers reacted to a distress call but were a little late because the bandits had already kidnapped the victims before they arrived, according to Daily Trust.
