According to a report published on Monday by the Center for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA), a Finland-based independent research organization, Russia’s revenues from fossil fuels increased to a record high in the period between February 24 and June 3, owing to a rise in global fossil fuel prices.

According to the group, Russia’s average export prices were over 60% higher than previous year.

The skyrocketing prices compensated Russia for the drop in sales volume caused by Western sanctions imposed on Moscow as a result of its offensive in Ukraine.

Ukrainian leaders are raising pleas for Western assistance as Russian forces prepare to conquer more of Ukraine’s eastern provinces in the coming days, while their forces’ death counts rise and armaments deplete.

According to US authorities, Russian forces currently occupy the center of Severodonetsk in the east and might claim Donetsk in the south within days, followed by the entire Luhansk region of eastern Ukraine in a few weeks. All bridges leading to Severodonetsk have been destroyed, trapping many people and indicating that Ukrainian forces will face a difficult battle.
