The Nigerian Army have announced that troops of the 34 Artillery Brigade Nigerian Army (NA) eliminated a member of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra and its armed branch Eastern Security Network (IPOB ESN) at Ihioma Community in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State.
According to a Press release by the NA, troops, while on routine patrol came in contact with members of the irredentist IPOB ESN organization who fired sporadically at Banana Junction to impose the illegal sit-at-home order on law-abiding civilians going about their daily lives.

When the IPOB/ESN criminals saw the troops approaching, they retreated in a blue Toyota Highlander to Ihioma Community for reinforcement.

One of the criminals was allegedly killed in the firefight that erupted during the encounter, while the others fled in chaos.

According to the NA, troops are scouring the area for fleeing dissidents as part of a follow-up operation.
The Nigerian Army also revealed that the irredentist group has resorted to cheap propaganda to whip up public sentiments after suffering casualties and effectively being denied freedom of action by the troops.
They have circulated a doctored video on social media alleging troops complicity in their mindless atrocities. This propaganda should be dismissed completely, the Army said.
