Nigeria Army Successfully Clear IPOB/ESN Enclave, Recover Sophisticated Weapons [See Photos]

The Nigerian Army have announced that troops from the 34 Brigade of the Nigerian Army have successfully cleared an IPOB/ESN enclave and captured their war machines in Imo state.

According to a statement released by the Director, Nigerian Army Public Relation, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the gallant soldiers captured a cache of arms and ammunition belonging to elements of the dissident group, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed affiliate, Eastern Security Network(ESN), after a gun battle at Amaifeke-Akkatta Road in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo state.

Nwachukwu revealed that the fire arms and ammunitions were discovered while troops were conducting an operation to clear the separatist hideouts along the Amaifeke – Akkatta road,

He said the criminals abandoned their vehicle and weapons in the heat of the combat and fled the scene after being overpowered by troops who successfully surmounted all ambushes prepared by the members of the illegal dissident group.

After fleeing the scene, Nwachukwu said, troops discovered an array of weapons hidden in a black Toyota Camry the hoodlums left behind.

“After a thorough search, the troops recovered ten Pump Action Shotguns, seven locally fabricated guns, one locally made Revolver Pistol, eighty Live Cartridges, one Baofeng Radio and substance suspected to be gun powder.Others include Satchet of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and a Toyota Camry Saloon car,” the statement reads.

Following the development, the Nigerian Army commended members of the public for their continued support of the military and security agencies in protecting citizens from the atrocious activities of outlawed dissident groups, who have annihilated innocent Ndigbo and other Nigerians in their enforcement of an illegal sit-at-home order imposed on the good people of the South East.
