A 12-year old girl was reportedly slaughtered by suspected armed robbers in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
The girl, Hadiza Mohammed, was allegedly killed when armed robbers broke into her home in Bulumkutu Abuja area, Maiduguri around 2:00 a.m. on Sunday.

Mohammed Hamma Jam, the victim’s father, told Yerwa News that he had already gone to the mosque with the victim’s mother to recite Tahajjud, a Muslim’s midnight prayer, when the armed robbers attacked their home.
He claimed they killed her after robbing the residence and stealing numerous things, including phones and cash.

He said, “she wanted to come with us to the mosque before we left, but I advised her to stay at home and watch after her younger siblings.’
He explained, ‘I persuaded her to stay at home by offering her my phone to play with.’
He suspected that the criminals were people he knew and that they were aware that he was not at home when they struck.
He also suspected that they might have killed Hadiza probably because she recognized them.
He said he found the girl laying in a pool of blood when he returned home after the prayer about 3:00 a.m., but she was still alive.
‘We took her to the hospital,’ he continued, referring to the State Specialist Hospital and later the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.
However, she gave up the ghost while receiving treatment.
The perpetrators used a knife they found in the house to commit the crime, according to preliminary police inquiry.
Hadiza was buried on Sunday in accordance with Islamic edicts.
